Ms Karin Seelos

Karin Seelos is currently working for the Power Generation Division of Statkraft, a leading producer of renewable energy in Europe, as Vice President for International Affairs.
Besides her German formation in business administration, Karin Seelos has graduated in psychology and holds a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Montreal with a specialisation in environmental management.
She worked for more than a decade for the world’s largest hydropower utility, Hydro-Québec, in various domains related to environmental management, corporate social responsibility, impact assessment of hydropower projects, strategic assessment, participatory project planning, sustainability, environment, water and energy policy, communications, public, governmental and institutional affairs.
She has participated in many international initiatives such as the follow-up of the World Commission on Dams, UNEP’s Dams and Development Project, the International Energy Agency’s Agreement on Hydropower, the e7’s working group on social trust, the World Energy Council’s Handbook on renewable energies and the IHA Sustainability Guidelines, to name just a few.
Ms. Seelos has had experience of working with the IHA Board since 2001, through her role as alternate both for Hydro-Québec and Statkraft. She was coopted to the IHA Board in September 2010 and elected in October 2011. In 2013, Ms. Seelos was elected Vice President.
