Partners of the REN Alliance have learned with great sadness the death of Dr. Herman Scheer, renewable energy pioneer.
All the partners wish to salute the work and the memory of a passionate advocate for all renewable technologies and a tireless proponent of a renewable-energy based economy. Dr Scheer was the initiator of feed-in tariff policies in Germany and the voice behind the creation of an International Renewable Energy Agency, which has now 148 member states.
“At a time when the REN Alliance and other actors are proposing new initiatives to further encourage the deployment of renewable energy, we are aware that we are building on Dr. Scheer’s legacy.” said R. Taylor, Executive Director of the International Hydropower Association.
“More than ever, it is time to pass on the message that a renewable future is possible, that it is even an energetic an ethic imperative, as Dr. Scheer himself stated recently.” added S. Gsänger, General Secretary of the World Wind Energy Association.
