Trialling of the Draft Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol
Trialling of the Draft Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol (the 'Draft Protocol') takes place during a three month period (September, October and November 2009), following the public release of the Draft Protocol in August 2009.
The primary objectives are to validate the Forum’s work so far by providing feedback on how well the Draft Protocol is measuring sustainability, and to inform the final revision. The following document provides instructions for undertaking a trial of the Draft Protocol, including provision of a standard reporting template:
Several documents are provided here, that can be downloaded and used to fill in and present results of a Draft Protocol trial:
The Instructions for Conducting a Trial document builds on a document previously circulated in May 2009 which called for expressions of interest in trialling:
The Forum strongly encourages as widespread trialling of the Draft Protocol as possible, and provision of the feedback on the Draft Protocol to the Forum using the standard reporting template.
If you are interested in nominating a hydropower project as a candidate for trialling of the Draft Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol - August 2009, please email the Sustainability Forum Coordinator, Dr. Helen Locher, at hl@hydropower.org.
The trialling period formally closes at the end of November 2009, so please get in touch as soon as possible.
