Azeb ASNAKE

CEO, Ethiopian Electric Power

Upon graduation from Addis Ababa University with a BSc in civil engineering, Azeb joined the Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority as a junior engineer. There, she served in various capacities and positions, reaching the position of engineering department head. She was then transferred to the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation, where she was assigned manager of the Gibe III Hydroelectric Power Project that has a designed generation capacity of 1870 MW.

In addition to this responsibility, Azeb was appointed CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) two years ago. The company is responsible for the construction and operation of generation, transmission, and substation mega projects. EEP is also tasked with electricity bulk sales to the retailer distribution company and export to neighbouring countries and beyond.

Azeb Asnake also serves as chair of the East African Power Pool (EAPP), which has nine member countries.
