In November 2015, the International Hydropower Association and World Bank Group collaborated to host a workshop on the resilience of hydropower to climate change.
The workshop brought together participants representing the hydropower sector, as well as multilateral organisations such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The day aimed to review the current understanding of relevant climate-change risks and discuss a common way forward for guidance and reporting on the topic. It also featured a range of case studies from industry providing insights into existing approaches.
Prior to the workshop, IHA carried out a survey of more than 50 organisations involved in hydropower development to assess perceptions of climate risk and resilience, and provide insights on the sector’s readiness.
You can download the briefing documents below for an overview of the outcomes of the workshop, and the results of the survey on climate resilience.
