Myanmar Hydropower Society

The Myanmar Hydropower Society works with national and international organisations to develop hydropower in Myanmar and ensure that sustainability is considered in all projects.

Hydropower was first introduced in Myanmar more than 50 years ago and the country now has 26 hydropower plants with an installed capacity of over 3,000 MW. The Society educates Myanmar’s population on the benefits of hydropower, helps its members with socio-economic development and offers technical assistance.
