Opening session: Achieving sustainable development goals

Plenary

With the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement, governments from around the world have sent a clear signal to decision-makers and civil society.

Over the next two decades, the focus will be on achieving universal access to reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all, ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water resources, while holding the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2oC.

In this plenary session, policy leaders will share their views on the role that institutions and governments can play in reaching these ambitious targets.
