G-res Tool Training

Learn to evaluate the GHG emissions from your reservoirs

Using the internationally recognised G-res Tool

New sustainability and environmental criteria are currently being developed for the provision of green bonds and other forms of climate finance. These criteria are increasingly requiring more detailed assessments of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including those caused by the creation of a reservoir.

This three-day interactive training course has been designed to allow individuals with a basic knowledge of geographic information systems and reservoir GHG dynamics to independently use the GHG Reservoir (G-res) Tool and accurately interpret the results.

The course includes a scientific introduction to the tool and a step-by-step tutorial on using it, as well as training on case scenarios and results analysis. When the course is finished, participants will be accredited as certified G-res Tool users.

Course outline

Day 1: Background and scientific basis behind the G-res Tool.
Day 2: G-res Tool and Earth Engine functionality.

  • A hands-on, step-by-step walkthrough of the G-res Tool, using real examples.

  • Exercises using pre-prepared examples.

Day 3: Run the G-res Tool for your own reservoir and obtain a validated result.

Other services

As well as training opportunities, the G-res team offers the following services:

Assisted assessments
The team can process results for one or more reservoirs and go into further depth with the analysis of the net GHG results obtained.

Validation of results
The team can validate the results you produce using the G-res Tool to get them certified. Validated results acknowledge the quality of the work done using the G-res Tool and certify the results for public disclosure.
