Gete ZELEKE

Director, Water and Land Resource Centre – Addis Ababa University

Dr Gete Zeleke has been director of the Water and Land Resource Centre – Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia since 2011. He holds a PhD in natural resources management from the University of Bern, Switzerland, MSc in soil and water management from Wagningen University, Netherlands, and a BSc in agricultural engineering from Alemaya Unviersity, Ethiopia.

Dr Zeleke has more than 25 years of professional experience in natural resource management, as a researcher, leader and development professional. He has led national and international programmes and organisations. His previous positions include African coordinator of the CGIAR partnership's Global Mountain Programme; and director general and director of natural resource management research at the Amhara Regional Agricultural Research Institute (ARARI). He was also involved in the University of Bern's Landscape Transformation Project for the Horn of Africa.
