Harrison MUTIKANGA

CEO, Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL)

Harrison E. Mutikanga is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL). UEGCL is currently supervising construction of two Government flagship hydropower projects of Karuma (600MW) and Isimba (183MW) and developing various small hydropower projects including Muzizi (45MW). UEGCL owns the 380MW complex of Nalubaale and Kiira Hydropower plants whose operation and maintenance has been concessioned to a private operator.  Dr. Mutikanga provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of UEGCL’s operations. He obtained his BSc degree in Civil Engineering from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda in 1994. He obtained his MSc in Sanitary Engineering from UNESCO-IHE Institute of Water, Delft, The Netherlands in 1999 and a Ph.D. in Water Distribution Efficiency from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands in 2012. He has research interest in change management, performance management, multi-criteria decision analysis, infrastructure asset management, construction and contracts management. He has published over 15 papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conference proceedings. He is a Board Member and Chief Editor of “The Engineer” – A Journal of Engineers Registration Board of Uganda. Dr. Mutikanga is a part-time supervisor of MSc. Students in the Civil Engineering Department at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono, Uganda.
