Hydropower is the largest source of renewable energy today and the largest provider of storage capacity, but currently, hydro is the ‘Sleeping Giant’ of the energy transition – and that needs to change.

That is why I am submitting my candidacy for the board of the International Hydropower Association (IHA) to lend a unified voice to the industry and to represent the digital side of hydropower.

Over my 15 years in the hydro power industry, I have witnessed the massive potential of hydropower first-hand, and I also know from first-hand experience that a big part of this huge potential is wasted – either due to a lack of digitalization or due to restrictive regulation:

Internally, the industry needs to renew and move into the 21st century with the power of digitalization – my hope is that the IHA will support its members in this critical transformation by defining technical standards and interfaces that will stand the test of time.

Additionally, it is crucial that we enable policymakers around the world with the facts, figures, and knowledge to make informed policy decisions that unlock the full potential of hydropower. That is the only way we will reach our goal of keeping this beautiful blue planet a home for generations to come.

My hope is that, as a member of the board of IHA I can actively advocate for these changes and aid a hydro-powered energy transition.

She holds an MSc from Vienna University of Technology (Applied Mathematics), has more than 15 years management experience in the energy industry, leads the University’s TUtheTOP Alumni Energy Circle and is a member of the Board of the German Chamber of Commerce.
