Jie Tang

Practice Manager, Energy and Extractive Global Practices, East Asia and Pacific, World Bank Group

Jie Tang has more than 30 years of experience in the power sector, especially in large hydro. Before joining the World Bank in 2001, he worked on the China Three Gorges Dam (22,400 MW) for 15 years, with the last four as assistant to the president of Three Gorges Corporation (CTG). Since 2001, he has managed a number of hydropower projects of various types and sizes supported by the World Bank and associated policy and reforms for improved investment climate in the client countries. He has worked as a lead energy specialist, program leader for infrastructure, and currently as the practice manager for Energy and Extractive Global Practices, East Asia and Pacific Region, the World Bank. He holds a BSc in Electric Engineering from Wuhan University in China (1985), and a MBA from University of Cambridge in England (2001).
