KHNP is a public enterprise indirectly owned by the Government of Korea via KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) and established in April 2nd 2001, as a result of a corporate spin-off from KEPCO.

Since 1937, KHNP has developed and built 24 nuclear power units at 6 nuclear power plants, 51 hydropower units at 10 hydropower plants, 7 pumped-storage power plants and 8 small hydropower plants, total installed capacity reaches 27,097 MW.

Since the first overseas hydro project in Nepal, KHNP has actively participated in projects in countries with abundant water resources such as Pakistan, Indonesia and former Soviet Union countries, based on more than 70 years of technology and experience in the operation of hydro power plants.
