General Manager, Yalong River Hydropower Development Company

Professor Wu Shiyong is the deputy general manager at Yalong River Hydropower Development Company, in charge of hydropower planning, designing and scientific research management.

He has 28 years of experience in hydropower planning, designing, technical management and hydropower station operation management. His research focuses on hydropower station construction and optimal operation of cascade hydropower stations, with a keen interest in optimal dispatching of cascade, environmental protection as well as technology innovation systems in hydropower development.

Professor Wu is in charge of hydropower planning, preparation work, project approval, scientific research and consulting, and the environmental protection of Yalong river. His recent project is the National Key Technology Support Program of "Yalong river digital platform construction and demonstration application".

In this project, he carried out thorough research in the digital valley planning, joint optimisation dispatching of cascade hydropower stations, engineering safety monitoring and safety management system of the river basin, lifecycle management of the hydropower project based on 'the Internet of things' technology, and the construction and application of a digital river basin platform.

Professor Wu also stands as executive director, secretary general or standing director of several industry associations. He works closely with government, other hydropower companies and industry associations. He is committed to achieving a more environmental-friendly, optimised dispatching, intelligent and modernised cascade hydropower development and operation.
