Environmental and social
There are many environmental and social considerations which are criticial to achieving consensus on hydropower development.
IHA has championed the development of the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol, a tool that measures hydropower projects across a range of considerations, including environmental and social.
The protocol was developed as a result of three years of multi-stakeholder engagement with governments, the finance sector, NGOs and hydropower industry.
