Vice President, Huanghe Hydropower Company
Yang Cunlong, born in December 1962 in Shaanxi Province, China, holds a graduate diploma in hydraulic engineering, is a professorate senior engineer.
From 1983 to 1987, he was involved in construction of the Longyangxia hydropower project, a major power plant in the northwest power grid of China. The Longyangxia hydropower project, with a total installed capacity of 1,280 MW and storage capacity of 24.7 billion m3 represented top-level hydropower engineering in 1980s China.
From 1987 to 2000, he was responsible for construction of the Lijiaxia hydropower project with a total installed capacity of 2,000 MW. At that time this was the largest hydropower station with double-row units in the world.
From 2001 to 2010, he was responsible for construction of the Laxiwa hydropower station with a total installed capacity of 4,200 MW and maximum dam height of 250 m. This is the largest hydropower station on the Yellow River in China.
Now, he is a party member and vice president of SPIC Huanghe Hydropower Development Corporation, responsible for construction management of all hydropower and new energy power projects.
