Engr. Lamu Audu

Managing Director/CEO, Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited

Engr. Lamu Audu is a distinguished mechanical engineer and the MD/CEO of Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited. With a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Maiduguri.

Engr. Lamu's illustrious career spans over three decades, starting with the Borno State Ministry of Works and Housing in 1986. Throughout his career, he has held key positions in various organizations, including the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) and Jebba Hydro Electric PLC, before assuming the role of MD/CEO at Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited (MESL) in 2013.

Engr. Lamu's visionary leadership and innovative strategies have been instrumental in the growth and success of MESL, including a significant increase in available capacity, the implementation of a statutory overhaul program, and the implementation of capacity expansion Program at both Kainji and Jebba HPPs. His efforts have not only positioned MESL as a model of excellence in hydropower operations but have also contributed to the advancement of the electricity sector in Nigeria and beyond.

He is recognized as one of the 75 most influential people in the hydropower sector globally by the International Water, Power and Dam Construction (“IWP&DC”) in their publication of May 23, 2024. He is presently the vice chair International Hydro Power Association’s Board (IHA). Engr. Lamu Audu continues to advocate for the alignment of West Africa with international standards in hydropower operations. His dedication to excellence and commitment to sustainable energy practices have earned him accolades from industry partners and academia which positioned MESL as a leader in the field.
