My name is Engr. Richard K. Madubunyi, and I am honoured to put myself forward as a candidate for the IHA Board.

With a background in Chemical Engineering and Finance, and over two decades of experience driving business growth across the energy sector, I have had the privilege of working in more than 20 countries, leading complex negotiations and shaping strategic investment decisions across diverse energy markets.

I currently serve as the Managing Director/CEO of Mabon Limited, an indigenous Nigerian company committed to delivering sustainable energy solutions through its flagship 40MW Dadinkowa Hydropower Plant. Under my leadership, Mabon Limited has become Nigeria’s first and only successfully completed on-grid hydropower Independent Power Producer (IPP). Mabon is also a proud and active member of the International Hydropower Association (IHA).

I bring a global mindset, deep financial and technical expertise, and a passion for sustainable infrastructure. My vision for IHA is bold but simple: expand its global reach by building stronger ties between developed and emerging markets, while promoting the core values of the San José Declaration on Sustainable Hydropower. I believe hydropower can power not just cities, but futures. As part of the IHA Board, I’ll bring both strategic leadership and practical experience to support IHA’s mission.
