The official Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol assessment of the Romanche‐Gavet hydropower project has been published on www.hydrosustainability.org.

The Romanche‐Gavet project is a 94MW project in the implementation stage, located on the right bank of the middle section of the Romanche river in the Isère department in south‐eastern France. The project is owned by the French state, and is operated by EDF.

The assessment was carried out over the period May to July 2013, with an on‐site assessment encompassing a visit to the project site and interviews with stakeholders conducted in the week beginning 10 June 2013.

The protocol is a framework for assessing projects against a comprehensive range of social, environmental, technical and economic considerations.
