As a holding company, Axia Energia, formerly known as Eletrobras, controls a significant proportion of the electric power generation and transmission systems of Brazil through six subsidiaries.

In addition to holding 50% of the capital of Itaipu Binacional, the generating capacity of Axia Energia is 42,333 MW – equivalent to 35% of the country’s total power. The company’s transmission lines total 55,118 km, which is 52% of the country’s total.
