The foundation of the company called W. Lahmeyer & Co., now Tractebel Engineering GmbH, dates back to 30 September 1890, the time when electricity was discovered. Electrical engineering provided the basis for the rapid industrialisation of the period at the time, with energy generation and trans-regional energy transmission and distribution being the driving forces. European and international activities also began within just a short time after the company’s foundation. In keeping with the tradition of the founder, Wilhelm Lahmeyer, a pioneer in electrification, the company has made a global name for itself ever since with independent engineering services. This development is now being resolutely continued in the form of the work undertaken together with the Tractebel Group.
