Angela LIVINO

Brazil Regional Lead

Angela Livino joined the International Hydropower Association (IHA) in February 2026 as Brazil Regional Lead, bringing over 25 years of experience across the energy sector in Brazil and Latin America. Based in Rio de Janeiro, she is responsible for strengthening IHA’s presence in Brazil by deepening engagement with national institutions and key stakeholders, supporting IHA members, monitoring policy and regulatory developments, and leading advocacy initiatives that reinforce the strategic role of hydropower, including pumped-storage hydropower,  in Brazil’s energy transition.

Prior to joining IHA, Angela held senior leadership positions at Brazil’s Energy Research Office (EPE), where she served as Interim CEO and Director of Corporate Management, and at the National System Operator (ONS) as a Board Advisory Member. She has also worked as a Consultant at OLACDE – Latin America and Caribe Energy Organization, leading regional energy integration studies and the #hydro4netzero initiative, and currently serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher at GESEL/IE/UFRJ, where her work focuses on the flexibility of electrical systems and the development of pumped-storage power plants.

Angela holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering/Water Resources from COPPE/UFRJ and has conducted research as fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School Sustainability Science Program.
