This event, held on the occasion of the IHA Board meeting, will bring together 100 senior representatives and decision-makers from leading hydropower and energy organisations, including IHA Board members, as well as multilateral and financial institutions, civil society, media, and members of the diplomatic community. Hydropower and pumped storage play a strategically essential role in the renewable energy systems of both the UK and Australia.

The reception will provide an excellent opportunity to highlight the UK’s and Australia’s leadership in clean, affordable and secure energy, climate action, and sustainable infrastructure. It will also facilitate engagement among key stakeholders working on renewable energy and energy security in the run up to COP31 in November 2026 and the World Hydropower Congress in Sydney in April 2027.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Elisabeth Bowes PSM, Australian Deputy High Commissioner, and Hon Malcolm Turnbull AC, 29th Prime Minister of Australia and IHA President.
