Event summary:

This session, titled Women in Renewables: Fireside Chat & Networking Reception, brings together prominent leaders across the renewable energy sector to share career experiences and foster industry connections.

Following welcome remarks by Rebecca Williams (Deputy CEO, GWEC), the event features an engaging fireside chat moderated by Amisha Patel (Executive Director, GOWA). The panel includes Hon. Shyla Mary Peters (Member of the National Assembly, South Africa) and Maria van Veldhuizen (Project Manager, GWNET), who will discuss their individual career pathways, lessons in leadership, and actionable ways the sector can improve women’s representation.

The conversation will then open to the floor for an interactive discussion, highlighted by an opening intervention from Joanna Osawe (President & CEO, WiRE) highlighting proud moments in the sector. Ilina Stefanova (Director of the Coalition for Action, IRENA) will provide the closing remarks to summarise the session's insights.

The event concludes with a catered, open networking reception designed to facilitate informal discussion and collaboration across the renewables landscape. While this event celebrates women in renewable energy, it is open to all. Women, men, and non-binary people are all welcome to join and celebrate.
