Event summary:
As the world’s largest source of renewable energy generation and storage, hydropower has underpinned industrial development in Latin America, while also strengthening its energy security and climate resilience.
In the future, it is ideally placed to complement other renewable energy sources like wind and solar. Its storage capabilities and the grid services provide needed flexibility to grids. It also provides essential grid service and water management in a changing environment.
This session will explore how Latin American governments can enable hydropower to play its wider role whilst ensuring that, going forward, the only acceptable hydropower is sustainable hydropower.
Speakers:
Thiago Prado, President of EPE
Eddie Rich, CEO, IHA
Dr Enrique Cifres, ICOLD
